Unlikely Collaborators x Medicinal Media

We’re excited to share that Medicinal Media has received a grant from Unlikely Collaborators, a nonprofit that supports storytelling projects exploring the hidden narratives that shape how we see ourselves and others.

Together, we’re producing five short-form story packages—each blending video, art, and essay to explore perception, mental health, and healing through the lens of the Perception Box framework.

Medicinal Media board member Jada Pinkett Smith introduced us to some very aligned and amazing folks over at Unlikely Collaborators recently—now, thanks to a very generous grant, we’re cooking up some exceptional stories together, including 5 videos, 10 articles, and 30 original illustrations.

More soon!  — Rob VanAlkemade, Founding Executive Producer

These pieces explore themes like:

  • Body image and identity

  • Grief and narrative therapy

  • Psychedelic healing

  • Somatic responses to emotional pain

  • The power of noticing beauty in everyday moments (“glimmers”)

Each story invites viewers to look inward, feel deeply, and reflect on how internal narratives shape our experience of the world.
